If you’re familiar with Android keyboards, then you’re probably aware that SwiftKey is one of the more popular options available at the moment. However the app is a paid one, meaning that users had to pay to download it and use it with their Android devices. Well the good news is that SwiftKey has recently announced that they will be making their keyboard free from now onwards.
It is unclear why they are taking their app free, but the developers have also announced that they will be introducing more themes and theme packs which will be sold for money, so we guess they will be making their revenue through in-app purchases. By taking the app free, they will also be able to reach a wider audience.
Now even better news is that if you have paid for SwiftKey in the past, you should be receiving an email that will inform you that you will be eligible to claim a pack of themes called the Premier Pack. This will contain 10 different themes that you can apply to the keyboard that the developers are valuing at $4.99.
On top of taking the app free, SwiftKey has also been updated to include new features. This includes support for over 800 emoji along with emoji prediction, an optional number row, enhance flow accuracy, improved prediction, support for additional languages, and more. If you have yet to download the third-party keyboard on your phone, head on over to the Google Play Store to get your hands on it.
