In a bid to move any remaining inventory, Microsoft has trimmed the prices of its Surface Pro 2 tablets as the next generation Surface tablet launches in a few days time. The move comes after Microsoft cut the tablet’s prices in the UK last month, and may also be doing the same in France and a few other countries. Customers in the U.S. will also be able to pick up the Surface Pro 2 for less than its original price.
Instead of $899 the 64GB Intel Core i5 powered Surface Pro 2 tablet is now available for $799, its a clean $100 off the original price. The high-end model for this particular configuration with 512GB of onboard storage is now selling for $1,599, a full $200 off.
After opening up pre-orders for the Surface Pro 3 last month, Microsoft said that the new tablets will start shipping on June 20th. Those who have already got their pre-orders in will start receiving their units on the aforementioned date. The company has also said that the Surface Pro 3 will become available through retail outlets on the very same day as well.
Earlier today it was reported that the shipping date for 128GB Surface Pro 3 has slipped by 10 days to June 30th. Those who have already pre-ordered it will receive their units on June 20th, but any orders placed for this particular configuration will not be shipped before the aforementioned date.
