Unfortunately it looks like the 3DS version of the game has been delayed. Instead of a summer release, Nintendo is eyeing a possible release in October instead. Apparently the extra time will be used to help get the game more up to scratch and make it an even more polished product. Since we’d rather play polished games than games full of bugs, we can appreciate this move, even if it means playing the game later than we’d have hoped.
The good news is that the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. is still on track for a release in winter, so it looks like only 3DS gamers will be affected. So if you were planning on playing it on the 3DS console, you’ll want to mark your calendars for the 3rd of October 2014. So far based on initial impressions and some hands on of the game during E3 2014, many gamers appeared to be pretty pleased with Nintendo’s progress so far.
Nintendo has had success with first-party titles, like Mario Kart 8 which actually helped boost Wii U sales in Japan, so we have to wonder if Super Smash Bros. will have the same effect on both the 3DS and the Wii U upon its release. What do you guys think?
