Just in case Capcom’s Street Fighter IV wasn’t enough and you wanted the next installment, well you’ll be pleased to learn that Capcom has confirmed that they are currently developing the next Street Fighter, Street Fighter V, although based on what they said, it seems that the game is currently in its early planning stages which means that we could be in for a wait.
This was revealed by Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono who spoke up on Twitter to debunk the rumors that Street Fighter V could be a pay to win game. For those unfamiliar with this model, it’s basically where a game allows players to gain advantages over other players by purchasing in-game items, like weapons, armor, skills, and so on.
This is a pretty unfair model for gamers who might not have that much money to spend, and we can only imagine the uproar it would cause in the Street Fighter community if such a model were to be implemented. After all Street Fighter is a competitive game and just because a player has more money, it doesn’t mean that they should have the advantage, right?
That being said, Ono continued with another tweet that revealed that the game was still in its planning stages and that he would be sharing additional details at a later date. Last we heard, Street Fighter V could see a release in 2018, but here’s hoping we won’t have to wait that long.
