Is Sony working on new smartphones? Well we can only assume that the company has plans for additional devices later in the year. After all the Sony Xperia Z2 can’t be the only high-end model they have planned, right? That being said, sources out of China have revealed three new devices that Sony could be potentially working on.
As it stands only the codenames of the devices have been revealed, so the actual device names could be subject to change. The devices in question are the Pegasus, Leo, and Aries. According to the rumors, the Leo is apparently the Sony Xperia Z3 that could be coming later in the year. Not much is known about it now, but it is rumored to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and could be made from metal.
The Aries will be the Xperia Z3 Compact, which would essentially be a smaller and less powerful version of the Xperia Z3. Since we can’t be sure of the specs of the Xperia Z3, it’s hard to guess as to what the Xperia Z3 Compact could feature. Last but not least is the Pegasus, which the source was unable to provide additional details about.
So when can we look forward to the new phones from Sony? Well the Xperia Z3 has been rumored for a possible launch in September which is also around when IFA 2014 will be kicking off, so maybe Sony could strut their new stuff then. Presumably the other two devices will also see a release around that time frame as well, but until we learn more, take it with a grain of salt for now.
