Samsung ZeQ: The Tizen Smartphone That Never Was

Tizen-powered smartphones are few and far in between, so much so that they are a whole lot rarer than Windows Phone devices once were a few years back. The Samsung Z was unveiled earlier this month, and that handset’s release was far from surprising, since a Tizen-powered smartphone had been a long time in coming. However, it seems that there is another smartphone from Samsung that nearly made it out, known as the Samsung ZeQ which allegedly appeared on eBay earlier this January under the guise of the SM-Z9005.

Live photos of the Samsung ZeQ (Samsung SM-Z9005) have surfaced, courtesy of the FCC who happened to have approved the smartphone in December last year, where it was touted to arrive with a 720p HD display alongside a Qualcomm chipset. However, in the Land of the Rising Sun, the Samsung ZeQ was meant to roll out to the masses there through NTT DoCoMo where it will sport the model number SC-03F.

It does seem as though the Samsung ZeQ is a wee bit smaller compared to the existing Samsung flagship, which is the Galaxy S5, purportedly arriving with a 4.8” 720p display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, a camera at the back with LED flash, and a 2,600 mAh battery. Rest well and good night, Samsung ZeQ.
