The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the South Korean tech company’s flagship phone at the moment. It sports some pretty high-end hardware which also means that it has an expensive price tag to match. Now if you don’t really need all that fancy hardware and just want a smartphone, you might be interested to learn that the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini has been rumored for a possible release in July.
This is according to the folks at SamMobile whose sources have informed them that the handset is expected to see a release in July, and that it will be available worldwide. For those hearing about the Galaxy S5 mini for the first time, it is basically a smaller and slightly less powerful version of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The rumors claim that it will borrow some of the Galaxy S5’s features, such as the fingerprint scanner and will apparently be IP67 certified as well, meaning that it will be both water and dust resistant. As far as hardware is concerned, it has been rumored to pack a 4.5-inch 720p HD display and will be powered by Samsung’s very own Exynos 3 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4GHz.
It has also been rumored to come with 1.5GB of RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. It will also run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and will come with software similar to the Galaxy S5, such as Ultra Power Saving Mode, Private Mode, and Kids Mode.
