Apple has given their MacBook Pro laptops the Retina treatment, so we guess it’s really just a matter of time before they do the same for the MacBook Air and even the iMac. Now there have been rumors about the iMac getting an update in the near future, and a recent report from MacG seems to suggest that the update could be happening as soon as next week.
They claim that Apple will be refreshing their iMac lineup with new iMacs that will sport spec bumps. They did not mention what kind of spec bumps we could be looking at, but chances are we will most probably look forward to increased processor speeds or updated processors at best. Unfortunately if you were holding out for a Retina iMac, well you could be in for a wait.
There is also speculation that the new iMacs could debut the new and improved Thunderbolt 2 port, although there’s no way of actually confirming that. 9to5Mac have also heard whispers that an iMac refresh could be happening soon, so there is a chance that MacG’s report could have some truth to it as well. MacG also speculates that the refreshed iMacs could be priced cheaper as well.
Prior to WWDC, there were rumors that Apple could update their iMacs during the event, but these rumors were quickly quashed and we guess as most of you guys know by now, no new hardware was announced at the event. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us next week to see if there are any details to be had.
