This is according to Sony boss, Shuhei Yoshida, who spoke to the folks at Polygon. According to Yoshida, “When we launched the Vita with Uncharted, it was amazing; PS3-like quality in your palm, but as time moved on, you are seeing PS4 quality and people’s expectations for the graphic fidelity has gone up.” He was also asked if the PS Vita would eventually receive fewer first-party titles, to which Yoshida answered in the affirmative.
This does not mean that Sony will be completely neglecting the PS Vita, so you can rest easy knowing that. Instead it seems that indie and third-party titles will be the main focus of the PS Vita moving forward. This isn’t a bad thing as there are plenty of amazing third-party and indie games designed for the PS Vita, but we guess a little bit of first-party love wouldn’t be such a bad idea, right?
