Sony has announced that they will be offering the long awaited PlayStation TV device to North America as well as Europe. PlayStation TV happens to be a device which streams not only video but games as well, where it will cost the user $99 a pop if you decide to have it reside in your living room. With the PlayStation TV, one is able to stream the likes of video, previous PlayStation and PS4 titles and games that have been specially programmed for the PS Vita handheld console to just about any compatible TV. The Japanese would most probably yawn at this announcement, considering the Land of the Rising Sun received the PlayStation TV in November last year.
Sony claims that this particular model will be more or less the same device as the PlayStation Vita TV that was launched in Japan, where it will sport a similar chipset as well as system software. The entire device measures 65cm x 10.5cm, and is tipped to sport 1GB of internal memory, relevant connectivity options such as Ethernet and USB, as well as support for PS Vita game cards and memory cards, not to mention Wi-Fi capability. Needless to say, those of us living in the US would pay less than our European brethren for the PlayStation TV if one were to take the exchange rate into consideration.
