Original iPhone Auctioned Off On eBay For $15,000

The first iPhone was released back in 2007, making it seven years since Apple took to the stage and revolutionized the mobile industry. While the device itself was somewhat revolutionary at that time, it did not play nice with 3G networks as the first-gen iPhone was strictly 2G. It also wasn’t as populated with apps compared to today, which we guess does a good job at highlighting how far we have come in the mobile space.

That being said, if you wanted to own a piece of history, it seems that someone has taken to eBay and put up an auction for the very first iPhone. According to the listing, this is a “very rare” find (which we guess is true), and based on the photo it looks mint as it appears to still be in its shrink wrap. It comes with 4GB of onboard storage so there’s not a lot you can do with it considering how big some apps are today.

The asking price? A whopping $15,000. Yup, you read that right, if you wanted to have the pleasure and honor of owning the first ever iPhone, you’d have to fork out $15,000 for it which is more than enough to get you a decent second hand car. Now we’ve seen how older Apple devices have managed to fetch hundreds of thousands in auctions due to their historic nature, but could the first-gen iPhone fall under that category?
