This Is Where Nintendo 3DS And DS Games Go To Die

History repeats itself, and this saying is true and steadfast. After all, it was not too long ago that the successful excavation of buried E.T. titles for the Atari 2600 system happened, and in the 21st century, we too, have video games that are unloved and unwanted, so where do all of these titles end up? Considering how the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS have large libraries, there are plenty of titles that do not get due attention, and so they would need to be disposed of.

Recycling is the way to go, and what you see above hails from Reddit user HxCut, who pays his bills by working at a recycling plant, and he captured the image of a whopping 545 kilograms (1,201 lbs) of unwanted 3DS and DS carts that will be stripped down for its gold before being recycled. Most of the games in the pile happen to be iCarly 2: iJoin the Click!, alongside a slew of other unwanted titles.

HxCut shared, “This is a gaylord (that’s what the boxes are called), they are generally 48″x48″x48″. I manage an e-recycling warehouse and these were at my buyer’s place. The only value is in the gold scrap. Looked to be like 75% iCarly 2, with some others mixed in. I’d guess they simply couldn’t be sold.”
