Its looks like Samsung isn’t really done with releasing high-end TV sets this year as it has just announced the launch of the new HU8290 series. There are two models in this new series as of now, a 55-inch and a 65-inch, both have curved displays and offer 4K or Ultra High Definition resolution at 3,840×2,160 pixels.
There are two things that most customers consider prior to purchasing a 4K UHD TV. First is the price, yes majority of these TVs are still quite expensive. The other is content. To truly enjoy this TV’s capabilities one must have content recorded in 4K, and even though some online services has started streaming content in 4K, it will take considerable time for it to become the conventional standard.
Fret not though since the HU8290 series TVs have the ability to upscale full 1080p HD content to 4K, it can even upscale content of a lower resolution. Moreover, there’s also support for the UHD HEVC codec apart from many more.
At this point in time the new 55 and 65-inch Samsung curved UHD TVs are available across the pond in Europe for 3,099 Euro and 4,499 Euro respectively. The new TVs have been launched ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and are bound to attract attention from football enthusiasts, there’s no doubt that its a particularly popular sport across the pond.
