Last week ahead of E3 2014, NetherRealm Studios unveiled the next Mortal Kombat game in the form of Mortal Kombat X. During E3, a gameplay trailer of the game was released which showed off some new characters that NetherRealm Studios would be introducing to the game. Now Mortal Kombat by its own is fun, but what makes it even more fun is fighting against other players.
This usually presents more of a challenge versus AI, since different gamers think differently and have different strategies. Now if you were wondering about multiplayer in Mortal Kombat X, the folks at Game Informer managed to get the opportunity to talk to NetherRealm’s Ed Boon to find out more about the game’s multiplayer aspect.
According to Boon, he feels like the most important feature of Mortal Kombat X would be its online component. “We’re going to be introducing this online metagame that everyone participates in. It’s an online experience that is persistent. Everyone is going to be playing it, and there are benefits. It’s definitely something that’s going to play a major role in people’s experience playing Mortal Kombat.”
Unfortunately apart from that brief description, not much else was shared, although additional details are expected to be released at a later date. In the meantime what do you guys think of the persistent online mode? Is this something competitive fighting game players are looking forward to?
