When it comes to a celebrated toy like LEGO, you know for sure that many generations have grown up with it, having LEGO keep kids occupied for hours on end before the advent of video games. Over the years, there has been various tie-ins between movie properties and LEGO, and this time around, the Danish brick toy manufacturer has decided to celebrate ladies with a penchant for learning by unveiling a minifigure range of female scientists as well as their accompanying lab tools.

The Research Institute series managed to pick up the top award for the LEGO Ideas contest for this coming winter, where among them include a paleontologist with her dinosaur skeleton as you can see above, an astronomer with a telescope, as well as a chemist who is grossly enamored with her lab.

It was Dr. Ellen Kooiljman’s brainchild to have female minifigures involved in science, saying, “Although recently [Lego] has started to design and add more female figures to their sets, they are still a minority. I have designed some professional female minifigures that also show that girls can become anything they want, including a paleontologist or an astronomer.” Do expect to see this awesome new series revealed sometime later this August.
