This 7” WhiteMagic WUXGA display will sport a resolution count of 1920 x 1200 pixels, where it boasts of WhiteMagic technology that will incorporate a white subpixel to the RGB pixels in order to have superior control over the brightness level of the LCD. Originally spotted in action in Sony’s flagship handsets two years back, this marks the first time that such technology will see action in a larger display. In fact, one of the main benefits of WhiteMagic technology is the ability to lower power consumption by up to 40%, which should go a long way in making its implementation in tablets all the more successful.
It would be interesting to see just which particular tablet manufacturers are willing to take up a position with Japan Display’s offering. [Press Release]
