The rumor mill is convinced that this year Apple is going to make some radical changes to its new iPhones, which include larger displays and a new design. There are also multiple rumors about the new features these smartphones are expected to bring. Another report containing information about these features has been published online. It claims that the iPhone 6 will come with many much awaited features such as NFC and wireless charging.
If true, these would be the first iPhones that Apple releases with NFC (Near Field Communication). Its a technology that is not only used to beam files between two devices but also for almost every major payment solution out there. With reports of Apple developing its own payments service coming up it won’t really surprise anyone if the next iPhones had NFC to take that cause forward.
VentureBeat hears from a “source close to the situation” that the iPhone 6 is also going to come with wireless charging and better 4G performance due to a better antenna. It is further claimed that Apple is nearing completion of the iPhone 6 and is now putting it through tests for speed, durability and network performance.
Faster LTE will supposedly be enabled by the Category 6 radio which offers speeds of up to 300mbps as opposed to the Category 4 radio present in the existing iPhone 5 models. It isn’t believed to support LTE-Advanced, a standard that brings gigabit-speeds on mobile.
Many of the iPhone’s Android powered rivals have had these features for at least a year now so its about time that Apple caught up. However it should be kept in mind that these features haven’t officially been confirmed. The company is expected to unveil both new iPhones this fall, only then we’ll know what’s really in store for us.
