One of the reasons the HTC One M8 is priced the way it is, is because of its flagship status. It also packs pretty impressive hardware and a metal body, all of which undoubtedly contributes to its price. Now the good news is that if you were aren’t willing to spend that much for a smartphone, perhaps you might be interested in the HTC One E8.
Yes, you read that right, and no it was not a typo. The HTC One E8 is a recently announced handset by HTC. The device has gone by other names in the past, such as the HTC M8 Ace, so if you have been following the news, we guess the HTC One E8 is the official name of the upcoming handset.
So what can we look forward to in the One E8? Well for starters HTC has decided to shed the use metal for the body. Instead, HTC has opted for plastic which has helped to make the device lighter by 15 grams, at least compared to its more expensive sibling. Hardware wise, the One E8 sports the same specs as the One M8.
This means we can look forward to a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chipset with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD, a 2,600mAh battery, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The camera on the One E8 has been changed and instead of a dual camera setup, HTC has decided to slap on a 13MP camera instead with an aperture of f/2.2.
Based on what we can see from the design, HTC has also opted to retain the front-facing BoomSound speakers, so if you were worried that the One E8 might lose out on some entertainment features, fret not. The phone will also come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled with HTC Sense 6. Unfortunately for now, it looks like the HTC One E8 will be a China exclusive, but perhaps it will be released to other markets in the future.
