This hardly comes as a surprise since Google had signed up for a voluntary program that is basically companies agreeing to adding kill switches in their phones, although this is the first we’re hearing about Google’s plans since their involvement had been revealed. According to Google, they will be adding the feature, which they’re calling a “factory reset protection solution” to the next version of Android.
Unfortunately Google did not dive into any details regarding this upcoming feature, but with Google I/O kicking off next week, perhaps we will learn more about Google’s plans for Android then. There have been murmurs that Google could be holding off on announcing the next major Android build for now, but either way like we said earlier, with Google I/O taking place next week, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out, so check back with us then for the details!
