A few months back Facebook unveiled Paper. Available only on the iPhone for now the app has received a lot of praise for its simple yet immersive design. It allows users to follow their interests on the move by featuring stories and creating themed sections based on a wide variety of topics. It may have looked like a news reader but today’s update takes it one step further. It adds a “Trending” section to the application that brings those stories and photos front and center that have generated the most buzz on Facebook.
Facebook Paper might not serve as a replacement for your news reader since its not like you often find hard-hitting news going viral on the social network. Instead it’ll probably feature stories about celebrities, sports matches, TV shows, movies and music. Its basically a real time look at the trending topics on Facebook.
The app also gets support for hashtags so users can tap on one to follow all related posts. Tapping on the hashtag will also display cards of mentions from the public and the user’s own friends.
Other features in this update include ability to copy text from a post, change audience after posting, mentioning friends, adding photo tags as well as the ability to edit profile and cover picture.
Facebook Paper version 1.2 is now live and available for download from the App Store.
