Custom Moto X Cracked Screens Are Replaced Free Once By Motorola

Last year after unveiling the Moto X smartphone Motorola showed off the Moto Maker. Its a web based customization studio that allows customers to put their personal touches on a Moto X. Customers pay the same price but the advantage they get over retailers and carriers is that they get to make some cool changes to the phone. It turns out that Motorola has a policy of replacing custom Moto X cracked screens for free, albeit for the first time only.

This may have been going on for a few months now but only came to light recently when a Reddit user contacted Motorola after the screen on their custom Moto X broke. The company provided the user with a code for a replacement phone on Moto Maker absolutely free.

Motorola confirmed to AndroidPolice that it does have a policy of “one-time free repair or replacement of broken displays on Moto X’s,” even though this isn’t clearly stated on the company’s support page. Those who submit a request for repair are provided a service redemption code as well as a prepaid shipping label to send the device back to Motorola.

The company still appears to be honoring this policy, which only applies to Moto X units that are within the warranty period. Since the smartphone came out in August 2013, at the time of this writing all Moto X units are eligible. If you bust up the screen once again then it’ll cost upwards of $175 plus taxes to get it repaired directly from the company.
