Corsair is a company known for their computer parts, such as PC chassis, RAM, power supply, and gaming peripherals, just to name a few. Well if you’re in the market for an external hard drive that needs to be both fast and portable, it looks like Corsair has you covered as they have announced the Flash Voyager GTX USB drive.
As you can see in the image above, the Flash Voyager GTX USB drive is pretty small, kind of like the size of a flash drive. However don’t let its looks fool you because under the hood, the device will provide users with the storage and performance of an SSD. The USB drive will come in 128GB and 256GB models, and as expected of SSD-like devices, they don’t come cheap.
The 128GB model will retail for $120 while the 256GB model will go for $200. In terms of performance, both models will be the same in the sense that they will offer speeds of 450MB/s in read speeds, and 350MB/s in write speeds over USB 3.0 connectivity. The innards of the device has SSD-like qualities as well, such as support from TRIM which helps improve performance over time by telling the device when blocks of data can be erased or consolidated.
It will also support USB Attached SCSI and SMART monitoring that will help keep an eye on the storage’s health. According to Corsair, they claim that the Flash Voyager GTX is their fastest USB flash drive to date, but as you can see from the price, speed and portability will cost you.
