Well the good news for BlackBerry users is that the Canadian company has recently announced that with the launch of BlackBerry OS 10.3, the Amazon Appstore will be opening its doors to BlackBerry 10 users, thus giving them access to over 240,000 apps. But wait, isn’t Amazon’s Appstore for Android apps, you ask?
Yes, it is, but due to the nature of BlackBerry 10, the platform will be able to run Android apps on its devices. Sure, some of it might not necessarily be optimized or provide the greatest experience, but it’s there if users want to take advantage of it. With BlackBerry users gaining access to so many new apps, BlackBerry has also announced that they will shift their focus towards developing enterprise-related apps.
According to BlackBerry’s CEO, John Chen, “Making the Amazon Appstore available on BlackBerry 10 devices will help BlackBerry continue to meet two essential needs: greater app availability for our smartphone users and enhanced productivity solutions for enterprises.” BlackBerry OS 10.3 is expected to be released later this fall.
