While it’s hard to tell, on Flickr it looks like Apple’s iPhone is dominating not just in terms of camera phones, but in terms of popular cameras as well. It appears that it even managed to beat out DSLRs like the Canon EOS REBEL T3i. This isn’t the first time since Apple’s iPhone had dominated on Flickr. Back in 2011, the iPhone 4 proved to be the most popular camera on Flickr.
In fact back in 2011, there was an even bigger mix of cameras in the bag. The popular cameras included professional devices like the Canon EOS 5D MK II and prosumer cameras like the Nikon D90, both of whom were beaten by the iPhone 4. However as you can see in the graph above, it’s pretty much all iPhone, with the iPhone 5 taking the lead followed by the iPhone 5s.
Of course it is entirely possible that the reason why we aren’t seeing that many DSLRs or other dedicated cameras on Flickr is that these users could be posting on other websites, such as deviantArt or 500px, both of whom have a more active artsy community, whereas Flickr might be more for the casual user who is just looking for a place to host their photos, and less about feedback on their photography skills, but what do you guys think?
