The report claims that Apple will be working with another battery supplier, alongside their usual supplier, Dynapack, who reportedly has had issues keeping up with the demand from Apple. The Cupertino company is expecting to produce about 20 million units of the 5.5-inch model by the end of the year, and with Apple rumored to be aiming for 80 million iPhone 6 units by the end of 2014, it would seem that the 5.5-inch model will only account for a quarter of those estimations.
What this means for users is that if you wanted a 5.5-inch model, chances are it will be harder to come by, so if you don’t mind waiting for your 5.5-inch unit, you can, otherwise there’s always the 4.7-inch model to consider. Of course all of this is conjecture at this point in time so take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you were hoping to see a 5.5-inch model in 2014, perhaps Apple will grace us with such a device later this year.
