It’s pretty clever and it is one way to get around waiting for carriers to approve updates and also deal with fragmentation. Now if you agree that this is a clever idea, you might be pleased to learn that Google has recently uploaded its default email app onto Google Play. Google has done this before with other apps like the Google keyboard and Google Calendar, so we guess this hardly comes as a surprise.
For those who do not run stock Android, this app might not necessarily be one familiar to you, but it’s basically the stock email app that comes preinstalled with Android 4.4 KitKat. We should note that not all devices are able to download and install the app, and it’s pretty much limited to Nexus and Google Play Edition handsets, although oddly enough the HTC One M7 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Editions are listed in its support.
