Now as you can see from the rather dark and somewhat grainy photos is the device’s backplate, which appears to have a brushed metallic look. It is unclear if Samsung will truly incorporate the use of metal for the Galaxy F, or if they will be taking the route traveled by LG and use a metallic-lookalike to give off that illusion instead.
The device, for those unfamiliar, is an upcoming phone from Samsung that will supposedly offer up features that the Galaxy S5 did not. This includes a metallic build versus plastic on the Galaxy S5, a choice which many have criticized Samsung for. There are also rumors that suggests that the phone will pack a QHD display. Considering the LG G3 has a QHD display, we’re pretty sure Samsung will not want to lag behind the competition.
Other rumors include the possible use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, but according to PhoneArena’s source, the device pictured is running on a Snapdragon 801, but it will be upgraded to the Snapdragon 805 once production begins. Interestingly enough their source also claims that the phone will be IP67 certified, although we’re not sure how that will work with the metallic body, since it could potentially lead to rust or even unsightly watermarks.
In any case like we said earlier, take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully Samsung will have the official details for us in the near future.
