Yup, you read that right, the cost of Xiaomi’s 49-inch 4K television is priced just as cheap as a high-end smartphone, meaning that if you could afford a new high-end flagship handset like the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the HTC One M8, then you should be able to afford the Xiaomi Mi TV 2. Unfortunately the downside is that it looks like the Mi TV 2 could be limited to the Chinese market, so if you were hoping for an international or stateside launch, you might want to look elsewhere.
The Mi TV 2 will sport a pretty thin aluminum bezel that measures 6.2mm. The TV itself will be powered by a 1.45GHz quad-core MediaTek MStar 6A918 processor with Android running the show, although it will feature Xiaomi’s MIUI interface on top of it. There will be 2GB of RAM accompanying it and 8GB of onboard storage, although that is expandable via microSD.
The remote control for the Mi TV 2 will be a Bluetooth-based device and for those who easily misplace their reports, there’s the ability to sound an alert on the device should it be misplaced, thus letting its owners locate it easily. For those living in China, the Xiaomi Mi TV 2 will be available for pre-order come 27th of May, so if this sounds like something you might be interested in, time to get those credit cards ready.
