World’s Fastest Texter Is 17-Year Old Brazilian Teen
Just how fast do you think you are able to text? I suppose the real test would depend on the kind of keyboard that you use. For those who still live in the previous century, surely you would swear by those physical keyboards on your handsets, be it Nokia’s T9 predictive text system or with a BlackBerry keyboard. However, the advent of the smartphone has led to different text input options, ranging from Swype to Fleksy. Of course, there is also the vanilla virtual keyboard that would let you hammer out whatever you need to type. A 17-year-old teen from Brazil has picked up the gong as the world’s fastest texter, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, using his smartphone.
Beating the previous record (which was also set by a teen, mind you) with a time of 18.19 seconds (the previous record stood at 18.44 seconds), Marcel Fernandes Filho of Brazil had to type complex sentences such as , “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” in order to emerge the winner. Contestants need to get the whole spelling correct, with proper punctuation thrown into the mix.
Filho’s achievement was honed using his iPhone 3GS after he smashed his faulty laptop in 2009. Do you think the 18 second mark will ever be breached? It might be the “4 minute mile” of texting.
