About a month ago, leaked information surfaced about Microsoft’s next major revision to Windows, which at the moment is being referred to as Windows 9. Now thanks to additional information obtained by Myce, it seems that some of those earlier leaked features can be “confirmed”, as well as some revelations about possible features that could make its way onto the platform as well.
According to the information that was leaked, it seems that Windows 9 is still currently in an alpha build. It has also been suggested that the software could be released in 2015, either in the second or third quarter of the year, meaning that we still have quite a long wait ahead of us. Then again Windows 8.1 was released not too long ago, so we guess that’s to be expected.
As far as features are concerned, Microsoft appears to be keeping the Metro UI around. There will also be a One User Experience, Cloud Services, System protection, Validation improvements, OneDrive, and even Cortana. The idea of Cortana arriving on the Windows platform is not a new one. In fact it wasn’t too long ago that we saw a job listing by Microsoft that seemed to suggest that they could be interested in bringing the voice assistant feature onto Windows.
However there was no mention in the job listing as to which version of Windows it will come in, but it looks like Windows 9 could be a good candidate. We’re not sure if this is an update/patch that can be applied to Windows 8/8.1 as well, but in any case take it with a grain of salt for now. In the meantime, are you looking forward to Windows 9, or is it too early?
