Watch Dogs is a game that has been in development by Ubisoft for the past 5 years. The game begun development back in 2009 and was shown off at E3 2012, a move which some at Ubisoft felt was too early. According to the game’s creative director, Jonathan Morin, “It’s exciting to be gold, but it’ll be more exciting when people are playing. For the fans it means that it’s true. It means there will be no such thing as another delay. But for us, it’s not done until they actually have it in their hands.”
The game will be seeing a release on multiple platforms on the 27th of May. This includes the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and the Xbox One. Ubisoft has also confirmed the resolutions and framerates that gamers can expect depending on the platform they choose from. For PS4 gamers, the game will run at 900p, while Xbox One gamers can look forward to 729p. However both platforms will also run the game at 30fps.
This contradicted earlier reports that suggested that the PS4 version of the game would run at 1080p at 60fps, but according to Morin, gameplay was more important to the team rather than resolution. “Resolution is a number, just like framerate is a number. All those numbers are valid aspects of making games, but you make choices about the experience you want to deliver. In our case, dynamism is everything.”
