Blizzard has usually done a pretty good job with their cinematic trailers for their games, but things could be kicked into high gear in 2016 when the Warcraft universe will remade into a live action movie. The movie is currently in the process of filming, and while it isn’t due for a release for another two years, the film’s producer, Thomas Tull, has stepped forward and offered up some details about the film in an interview with IGN.
When asked about what the film’s story will focus on, Tull was quoted as saying, “With a great cast, there’s a lot of folks to follow, so I’d look more in that direction because there’s so many talented people working on it… We’re very aware of the fact that in the mythology of Warcraft, there are two tribes – two big things to follow. We think you’re going to get a chance to look at both.”
With the Warcraft universe featuring more than two tribes, we can’t be sure of what he’s speaking of. However it was mentioned earlier that the movie would be more of an Orcs versus Humans story, rather than featuring more well-known characters like Arthas, so perhaps those are the two tribes Tull was referring to.
Tull also seemed to hint that come Comic-Con this summer, there is a good chance we can look forward to the film’s first teaser trailer. According to Tull, “We show up every summer at Comic-Con – we really enjoy it, and the fans seem to enjoy taking a look at things, so I wouldn’t be surprised.” In any case here’s hoping that the Warcraft movie will not bomb like other video games-cum-movies, so fingers crossed!
