united-app-inflight-entertainment

Earlier this year in March United Airlines announced that it is going to roll out a new personal device entertainment system onboard select aircraft. Through a laptop or the airline’s official iOS app passengers will be able to watch more than 150 movies and nearly 200 TV shows absolutely free. Today the updated app has been released which brings this in-flight entertainment service for all United passengers.

It should be kept in mind though that the service might not be available on all United flights as the airline is still in the process of fitting aircraft with the required hardware. This new system will be offered on its Airbus A319, Airbus A320, Boeing 747-400 and select 777-200 aircraft, followed by additional fleets.

Those who would like to know if their flight offers this service can check through the inflight amenities tab on the airline’s Flight Status and Information page, or check the similar section in United’s iOS app 24 hours prior to departure.

Laptop users will be able to access this new in-flight entertainment service through a browser plugin while iPhone and iPad users are obviously going to use the app. No word as yet when additional platforms like Android or Windows Phone are going to be supported. The new United app is available as a free download from the App Store.
