TSMC Supplying Fingerprint Sensors For Next-Gen iPhones & iPads [Rumor]

With the big deal and emphasis placed on Touch ID on the iPhone 5s, we can only assume that this is a feature that Apple will be continuing in its iPhone lineup for a while to come. In fact recent rumors have even suggested that Touch ID could be making an appearance in the iPad lineup this year, which we have to say doesn’t sound surprising.

That being said, recent reports (via G4Games) have suggested that TSMC has recently provided Apple with the first batch of fingerprint sensors that will be making its debut in the iPhone 6, the iPad Air 2, and the iPad mini 3.

It does seem a bit early for Apple to begin requesting for components from their suppliers, but given that Touch ID was one of the reasons why the iPhone 5s was in short supply last year, it seems that Apple is trying to stay ahead of the demand by ensuring that there will be enough components to go around.

In fact TSMC’s production of fingerprint sensors also seems to be in line with the rumors that Pegatron has recently received their orders to begin the iPhone assembling process. If Apple is to keep to their schedule and release an iPhone later this year, which is based on last year’s schedule, it is not surprising that they’re starting to get things ready to kick into high gear.
