It was back in March when we first heard that The Last of Us Remastered for PlayStation 4 will be released this summer. PlayStation’s Eurasian Software Market Manager Sercan Sulun initially let this slip on a cable network gaming show, adding that the game would be available on PlayStation Network as well as on physical discs. While many retailers have pegged different release dates, a new report pegs The Last of Us Remastered PS4 release date on August 7th.
Despite different dates being mentioned by different retailers the consensus seemed to be on June 13th. There wasn’t an official confirmation of the release date, only that it would be released over the summer. If the new date is true then that would mean a delay for this game, joining the laundry list of PS4 titles that have already been delayed.
Mighty Ape, a retailer in New Zealand, sent an email to customers who had pre-ordered the game, telling them that its suppliers have advised that the game’s release for PS4 has been shifted from June 13th to August 7th. Still there’s no official announcement by Sony, it hasn’t even contradicted the retailer’s report.
When The Last of Us Remastered was initially announced there was a rumor that the release would take place on August 8th. Back then the date wasn’t given much thought since most retailers had it listed for release in June. Now it seems that that particular rumor was probably correct. Anyhow we must wait for official word to be absolutely sure.
