Sure enough the rumored specs and the leaked images turned out to be pretty spot on, so safe to say that there was really nothing that surprising about its announcement, save for an official confirmation of sorts. For those who might have missed out on the rumors or who have been waiting for the official announcement, here are some of the details of the handset.
The Ascend P7 will be Huawei’s latest flagship device. The handset is made from metal and will have an aluminum band as well as an aluminum back coated with Gorilla Glass 3. It will feature a 5-inch Full HD display, also made from Gorilla Glass 3, which should give it a pretty high pixel density.
It will also be powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910T chipset, which should allow the phone to perform on the same level as other flagship devices from other OEMs like Sony, LG, HTC, and Samsung, although we’ll have to check out the benchmarks just to be sure.
The phone will also be bundled with 2GB of RAM, which is less than the Sony Xperia Z2, although we’re not sure if it will make a very huge difference. There will also be 16GB of onboard storage expandable via microSD, and a 13MP rear-facing camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and BSI, courtesy of Sony. Huawei has also chosen to include a whopping 8MP front-facing camera with an aperture of f/2.4 that should help users take selfies to the next level.
The Huawei Ascend P7 will sport a 2,500mAh battery, an upgrade over the Ascend P6‘s 2,000mAh battery. It will also run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Huawei’s Emotion UI 2.3 overlaying, and will support 4G LTE connectivity and dual SIM. Priced at €449, the Huawei Ascend P7 will see a release later this month in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. No word on whether Huawei will be bringing the handset stateside.
