verizon-xperia-z2It does seem as though the Sony Xperia Z2 image which was posted on the official Sony Mobile Google+ page was a mistake, as that was what we discovered early this morning. Apparently, the image in question has already been removed, and the folks over at Sony Mobile have apologized for any kind of confusion which might have arisen from this particular case of mistaken identity. U.S. customers who want to know more about the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone would do well to take note that the official stand from Sony Mobile is this – the Xperia Z2 will hit the U.S. as an unlocked device later this summer, no more, no less.

I guess that more or less explains everything – it most probably was an honest mistake on the part of Sony Mobile, and hopefully the person who put up that image will have realized the importance of double checking or perhaps even going through a relatively foolproof vetting process whenever possible. After all, prevention is definitely far better than cure in this particular case, but that’s that – those who want to pick up the Sony Xperia Z2 can do so this summer in the form of an unlocked handset. This official stance from Sony Mobile ought to put all other rumors to bed, then.
