Is health the next big thing in technology, or is Samsung simply looking to pre-empt Apple’s announcement of their own health-related apps/services? Well whatever it is, Samsung has officially started to hand out invites (via Engadget) to an event that they will be hosting on the 28th of May in San Francisco at 10:30AM.
According to the invite, it reads, “A new conversation around health is about to begin.” This seems to suggest that the event could be health-focused, although what exactly we can look forward to remains unknown. There are many possibilities here – a health app, another health-related device, and so on.
Samsung has dived into the health sector in the past, as we have seen in their apps released for their Galaxy S-series of Android smartphones. We have also seen them attempt health-related wearable devices like the Samsung Gear Fit which is supposed to give other fitness bands a run for their money.
However it is possible that this announcement could be around sensors that could be used in future devices, especially since the invite that was sent out was sent by Samsung’s semiconductor arm, as opposed to Samsung Mobile, so perhaps the announcement could be less about consumer products but sensors that could make their way into such products.
Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information so do check back with us on the 28th of May for the details.
