In fact even its design wasn’t exactly screaming “look at me” either. That being said, Samsung’s CEO, JK Shin, recently decided to address the many criticisms that have been leveled against the handset. Many had complained the device failed to live up to expectations, and in response to that, Shin stated that the goal behind the Galaxy S5 wasn’t to include as many “eye-popping” specs as they could.
Rather Samsung’s goal was to deliver features that users would find useful, rather than a novelty, which seems to be the case with most OEM include apps. To be fair Samsung managed to do that as the camera on the Galaxy S5 is a force to be reckoned with. The inclusion of the fingerprint scanner is useful as well, not to mention the added protection in the form of water and dust resistance, which might not seem as useful, could end up being a highly desired trait.
Then again perhaps the critics only make up a small fraction of the population. After all Samsung had recently announced that they had managed to ship 10 million Galaxy S5 units in under a month, and while shipments doesn’t necessarily translate into sales, it does hint at a high demand, so that’s saying something indeed.
