Root Galaxy S5 Verizon / AT&T And Get $18,000 Bounty

The Android community doesn’t kid around when it comes to rooting. This process opens up an Android device to countless customization options so it is understandable why most users want to root their devices. Unfortunately a method has still not been developed for Galaxy S5 on two of the biggest U.S. carriers. Whoever is now able to root Galaxy S5 Verizon / AT&T variant will be eligible for an $18,000 bounty pitched in together by members of the XDA developers forums.

A forum member going by Demiurge7 was the first to come up with the idea, saying that since “the S5 is locked down tighter than a drum” a root is worthy of higher accolades. So the member personally offered a $500 bounty to the first person who can “find or create a method, exploit or unlock” that can fully root and provide all required steps for rooting the Verizon and AT&T variants of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The idea seems to have struck a chord with other forum members who instantly started pledging to the bounty, ranging from $10 to $4,000. As of now over $10,000 has been pledged by Verizon subscribers and nearly $8,000 by Galaxy S5 owners on AT&T. Even now the pledges show no signs of slowing up so its likely that the bounty can balloon exponentially by the time someone comes up with a method to root both variants.

Its an added incentive for the people who are already working to root Galaxy S5 Verizon / AT&T variants. Usually whoever gets it done first receives brownie points but certainly nothing beats real money.
