The report claims that Pegatron has recently received about 15% of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 orders ahead of September’s launch. Pegatron is also expected to produce a total of 50 million iPhone 6 units this year which will include the iPhone 6, the iPhone 5c, and the iPhone 4S. We expect that Apple’s other manufacturing partners, such as Foxconn, will receive their orders shortly, assuming that this rumor is indeed real.
However it should be noted that this report contradicts and earlier rumor that suggests that Pegatron will be responsible for half of the iPhone 6’s orders, but perhaps the 15% might only be the start and that more orders will come in. Either that or something has changed along the way that has caused Apple to give Pegatron less orders.
Apple is also rumored to be working on a 5.5-inch model although that device is slated for a release at a later date, possibly even next year due to the yield of sapphire which is supposed to be used heavily in Apple’s new iPhones. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but like we said, assuming the September launch is still on track, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple was gearing up to start production soon.
