Pantech Vybe Announced

Not everyone is in the market for a high end smartphone this is for sure. After all, different people have their own needs as well as earning power, so some of us might be happy with an entry level device, while others would not mind making do for a couple of years with a value-for-money mid-range smartphone. The newly announced Pantech Vybe happens to feature a design that is reminiscent of the early smartphone years, back when the presence of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard is seen to be revolutionary and not a relic from the past.

The Pantech Vybe happens to be an update to the Ease, where it will come with an extremely barebones 3.2” 400 x 240 pixel display alongside a trio of customizable home screens. Apart from that, one can also place the Pantech Vybe into Easy Mode, which will then simplify the home screen as well as menus for those who have had little or no experience at all.

It will not be Android running the show here, but rather, a proprietary, Java-based operating system. Other hardware specifications of this basic handset include a 3-megapixel camera at the back, Bluetooth connectivity and a 1,230mAh battery. Expect to see shortcuts to social media apps and a range of AT&T services thrown into the mix as well, with AT&T asking for $30 on a 2-year contract if you’re interested. [Press Release]
