OnStar 4G LTE Offers Data For As Little As $5/Month

OnStar and General Motors have worked together to make sure that your ride in the future will not only be safe and comfortable, but also be connected so that you never have to worry about not being in the vicinity of a Wi-Fi network anymore. OnStar intends to usher in a new generation of connected vehicles from June onward by throwing in in-vehicle 4G LTE, where it will roll out with a trial period of three months or 3GB, whichever comes first. The 2015 Chevrolet Malibu would have the honor of being the first 4G LTE-equipped GM vehicle, where it is followed by over 30 other Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles before the year is over.

This particular movement would mark it as the industry’s broadest deployment of 4G LTE connectivity technology, where owners of these vehicles will be able to explore new features such as a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot that can pair up to seven devices, not to mention improved access to existing OnStar safety and security services. It can be said to be the most comprehensive in-vehicle safety and connectivity system available, and those who are riding on OnStar with 4G LTE will be able to enjoy the powerful antenna which is more powerful than that of a smartphone, so that the mobile device’s battery would not drain all that quickly.

Those who subscribe to OnStar Safe & Sound or Directions & Connections plans will enjoy a comprehensive suite of safety and security services, and with an additional $5 per month, one can enjoy 200MB of data.
