NVIDIA Mocha Tablet Spotted On GFXBench

Could NVIDIA be working on a new tablet? It was back in 2013 that they unveiled the NVIDIA Tegra Note 7 and now according to a benchmark sighting on GFXBench, a certain NVIDIA “Mocha” tablet has been spotted. Presumably “Mocha” is its codename, as opposed to its actual name, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled anyway.

That being said, the benchmarks have since been removed from GFXBench’s website, although we’re not sure why. Perhaps NVIDIA did not want to let the cat out of the bag this early, or it could simply be that the Mocha is a prototype device that they weren’t planning on releasing in the first place.

Either way from what we can tell, the NVIDIA Mocha is a tablet that will feature a display with a 2048×1536 resolution. Its display size is set at 7.9-inches. The tablet will also be powered by an NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset clocked at 2.1GHz, which is unsurprising since we doubt NVIDIA would be using another company’s chipset.

The device also appears to sport 1.7GB of RAM and 13GB of onboard storage, although presumably that rounds up to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, since some of it might be used during the benchmarking process. It will also be running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The tablet sounds pretty interesting and features some pretty powerful specs.

Of course there’s no way of telling if and when NVIDIA will actually announce the device, but if you enjoyed the Tegra Note 7, you can rest assured knowing that we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more details about the mysterious Mocha device.
