So far only the rumored specifications of the camera have been revealed, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully Nikon will indeed announce it in the coming weeks. The Nikon D800S is rumored to pack a 36MP sensor. It will not have a low pass filter and will have improved software that will help suppress moire. The camera will also be powered by Nikon’s Expeed 4 imaging processor and will sport a higher resolution LCD screen.
The camera is also rumored to feature a 4 center autofocus points and will come with GPS. Unfortunately the rumors also claim that the D800S will not come with WiFi, so photographers looking for wireless shooting or transfer of photos, you’d be out of luck. Nikon will also making improvements to the body of the camera, making it lighter than the D800/D800E, and it is also rumored to be priced higher than the D800E, which at the moment is currently priced at a little over $3,200.
In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you were looking for an upgrade over the D800/D800E, perhaps the Nikon D800S could be worth keeping an eye out for, but do check back with us over the coming weeks to see if Nikon has anything new planned.
