We have been hearing a lot of rumors about the HTC M8 Prime, which according to one of them is scheduled for a release on the 3rd of June. Recently the handset has been spotted at China’s TENAA’s database and now a new photo has surfaced, courtesy of Chinese website ifanr, in which the phone is being referred to as the “Vogue Edition”. In fact based on this photo alone, it seems like the HTC M8 Ace could totally pass off as the HTC One M8.
Then again, the HTC M8 Ace is supposed to be designed as a cheaper version of the One M8 while maintaining some of its shared specs, thus allowing it to compete with other high-end devices from other Android OEMs, such as Samsung, LG, Sony, and so on. The website also published a set of purported hardware specs of the phone, most of which seem to be in line with what we have heard so far.
This includes a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, with a Super LCD3 screen. It will also be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.5GHz, accompanied by 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB storage options with the ability to expand the memory via microSD, and a 2,600mAh battery. The M8 Ace will not be using the UltraPixel camera technology, and will instead pack a 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera.
The phone will also come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled with HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI layered on top. As we can see in the image above, the HTC M8 Ace will feature BoomSound speakers as well, although oddly enough this rendering shows the BoomSound speakers to be slightly more conservative versus the image from TENAA, where the BoomSound speakers appeared to be larger.
