Microsoft Reminds World Of Non-Existent Support For Windows XP
Windows XP has been a good and faithful servant, but like all other good things that are out there, they must come to an end, one day or another. On the 1st of May, Microsoft rolled out patches for all versions of Internet Explorer in order to fix a serious security exploit, where it will also include one for the Windows XP supported versions of the browser. This is heartening to hear, considering how Microsoft has officially stopped official support for Windows XP on April 8th. Today, however, marks a rollout of new security updates for Windows Vista, 7 and 8/8.1 under the monthly “Patch Tuesday” event, where Windows XP is conspicuously (but not surprisingly) missing.
A reminder has been put up by Microsoft to the masses that this is how it is going to be from now on, and the last IE patch does seem to be as good as it gets for Windows XP. Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc shared concerning the previous XP patch, “We made the decision to extend the update to all Windows XP customers based on the proximity to the established end of support date of April 8th for Windows XP … This was an exception, however, the Windows XP end of support policy still remains in place moving forward.” [Press Release]
