Microsoft Offering Office 365 Access To 8 Million Students In Thailand

office365_9When it come to productivity software in education, Microsoft’s Office is usually the platform of choice. However depending on the school and their budget, perhaps not all schools can afford to use the Microsoft Office platform. However recently Microsoft announced that they are partnering up with Thailand in a deal that will see the largest deployment of Office 365 for use in education.

The Redmond company inked a deal with the Asian country which will see 8 million students and 400,000 teachers in the country have access, free access mind you, to Microsoft Office 365 for educational purposes. As it stands there are 2 million university students and staff members who are already participating in the Office 365 campaign in Thailand, so with this new deal, it will bring that up to a whopping 10 million, possibly even more.

The deal will run for the next five years and according to the Office of Basic Education Commission of Thailand, “This initiative will play a key role in our preparations for ASEAN Economic Community integration and drive the development of 21st century skills that are vital to the Smart Thailand 2020 strategy, whose key objective is to foster sustainable national growth and raise the standard of living through technology.”

According to Microsoft, “This enables schools and universities across Thailand to create massive repositories of knowledge that can be accessed and shared anywhere, any time, and on any device in a secured and trusted environment.” Well good on Microsoft for giving back to the people, especially students!
