This has since been confirmed by several reviewers who were lucky enough to get the device ahead of everyone else. Thankfully Microsoft has acknowledged the issue early and stated that they are planning on releasing an update to fixed the problem ahead of its release. Based on the tweet by Microsoft’s PR firm, it seems that they expect this update to be pushed out ahead of the tablet’s general availability.
What this means is that the update should be released in a timely manner, so that when you do purchase the Surface Pro 3, it should not be affected by this problem, so don’t let this hold you back from purchasing an otherwise pretty good product. Battery life has been something of a contentious issue with the Surface tablets, with some feeling that battery life isn’t as long as it should be.
Hopefully Microsoft has addressed this with the Surface Pro 3, although this issue with the chargers aren’t doing much to help dispel the notion of tablets with bad battery life.
