Mario Kart 8 will be released for the Nintendo Wii U at the end of this month and safe to say it is one of the more highly anticipated Wii U titles this year. However the question remains, will it be enough to generate interest in the Wii U consoles to help Nintendo sell more units?
We’ve seen the company create Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundles and according to Nintendo UK’s Mario brand manager, Roger Langford, he believes that the game will be a catalyst that will help boost the Wii U sales.
Speaking to the folks at MCV, Langford was quoted as saying, “Mario Kart is one of our killer titles. Looking back at Super Mario Kart and then moving through the ages, you can see how integral Mario Kart is to Nintendo hardware. It always brings out the best in whatever hardware it is on.”
So far while the Wii U has proven itself to be a rather unique console, it failed to take unlike its predecessor, the Nintendo Wii. In fact Nintendo’s recent financials revealed that despite Nintendo slashing their original estimates for Wii U sales, the console failed to live up the lowered expectations. Hopefully Mario Kart 8 will be enough to help generate some interest, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and find out, but what say you?
